New Delhi,: Unani Medicine as well as other Indian medical systems under Ayush have promising prospects for education, employment and entrepreneurship in the country, said Prof. Asim Ali Khan, Director General, Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine and Adviser (Unani), Ministry of Ayush. He further said that there are so many educational institutions of Unani Medicine for undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Besides BUMS, MD and PhD, there are PG Diploma in Unani Medicine and Diploma in Unani Pharmacy (Medicine) that candidates can pursue for employment in central and state governments, academics, pharmaceutical industry and self-employment as well as for entrepreneurship.
Elaborating on the latest initiatives for the development of Ayush infrastructure and employment generation, he informed that under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National Ayush Mission the amount of financial assistance provided to State Governments for opening new Ayush colleges has been increased from Rs. 9 crore to Rs. 70 crore. He further stated that under the leadership of Hon’ble Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, the Ayush Ministry is making efforts to set up more health infrastructure especially in the North-Eastern States. Prof. Khan informed that the Ministry of Ayush organized a conference on ‘Diverse and Fulfilling Career Paths in Ayush Systems: Education, Entrepreneurship and Employment Focus on North Eastern States’ in Guwahati on September 10, 2021 and a landmark conference of Ayush ministers of all North-Eastern States on August 28, 2021 which deliberated upon developing the infrastructure for popularizing Ayush stream in the region.
