New Delhi, : Integrative healthcare approach based on Traditional Medicine and Allopathic Medicine can play an important role in the prevention and management of emerging health challenges, said Prof. Asim Ali Khan, Director General, Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India in his keynote address on the second day of the 5-day training programme on ‘Traditional Medicine-Modern Approaches for Affordable and Accessible Healthcare’ organized by Amity University, Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Prof. Khan further said that the integrative approach proved very helpful in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic and carrying out research activities on the topic. Highlighting the significance of the theme, Prof. Khan said that an inclusive approach based on the integration of the strengths of our traditional systems of medicine in the healthcare delivery system is a way forward to finding solutions for health challenges.
Further speaking in the panel discussion on ‘Unani, Sidha and Homoeopathy: Reviving of Indian Roots’, Prof. Khan said that Unani Medicine has made major advancements and successfully applied its principles to the Indian geo-human environment to emerge as one of the effective and commonly used systems of medicine and an integrated part of the national healthcare delivery. He further said that with the largest network of educational, healthcare and research & development establishments, India is the world leader in Unani Medicine.
