Ayush Minister Inaugurates Unani and Homoeopathy Research Building at Navi Mumbai

New Delhi / Navi Mumbai: Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Union Cabinet Minister of Ayush and Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways inaugurated the combined building complex of Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM) and Regional Research Institute for Homoeopathy(RRIH) here in Khargar, Navi Mumbai today.

Shri Prashant Thakur, Hon’ble MLA, Panvel, Prof. Asim Ali Khan, Director General, Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), Dr. SubhashKaushik, Director General, Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, Dr. Sangeeta A. Duggal, Advisor, Homoeopathy, Ministry of Ayush, Dr. Anil Khurana, Chairman, National Commission for Homoeopath and Dr. Raj K. Manchanda, Director of Ayush, Government of Delhi were present on the occasion.

In his inaugural speech, Hon’ble Minister Shri SarbanandaSonowal re-iterated that Ayush systems have evolved over centuries and have their firm roots in our culture. He added that the principles and practices of these systems need to be validated to pave way for further advancements in medical sciences. He opined that the research institutes of Ayush systems are therefore of paramount importance, which the Ministry of Ayush is developing. He hoped that research and development initiatives taken by the CCRUM will lead to finding safe and effective remedies not only for the chronic and degenerative diseases but also for the recent medical challenges that the world is facing. He was hopeful that RRIUM, Navi Mumbai will not just help the local population but also contribute to the vision of healthy India.

Earlier, Prof. Asim Ali Khan, Director General, CCRUM termed the occasion as a new milestone in the history of CCRUM and development of Unani Medicine in India. Prof. Khan expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Ayush for every support in the establishment of the combined building complex.

The building inaugurated today houses RRIUM, Mumbai & RRIH, Navi Mumbai, the regional research institutes of CCRUM and CCRH, respectively. The three-story building has been constructed on a plot of 1999.82 sqm by City and Industrial Development Corporation. Besides conducting research, the institutes will provide healthcare facilities to the masses.

The RRIH was earlier operating from a rented building in Navi Mumbai while the RRIUM, Mumbai has been functioning at Sir J. J. Hospital Compound, Byculla, Mumbai.

The inauguration ceremony was jointly organized by the CCRUM and CCRH, Ministry of Ayush, Government of Indiawhile Dr. Nirmala Devi, Research Officer Incharge, RRIUM, Navi Mumbai and Dr. Ramesh Bawaskar, Research Officer Incharge, RRIH, Navi Mumbai hosted the event. Unani and Homoeopathic researchers, scientists, senior practitioners of Ayush systems and modern medicine, principals and students of various colleges and patients attended the event.
