The Department of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), New Delhi organised a talk on “Corruption free India for a developed nation” by a well-known social scientist and senior IRPFS officer Mr. Md. Shadan Zeb Khan, Secretary, Central Waqf Council & CEO, NAWADCO, Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India on 6th November, 2022. The event was organised in online mode as part of the Vigilance Awareness Week (VAW-2022) observed by the university from 31st October to 06th November, 2022. An Integrity Pledge was also administered to the teachers, students and non-teaching staff of the department by Prof. Bashir Alam, HOD & Convenor of the event.
Mr. Md. Shadan Zeb Khan, the speaker of the event, enlightened the audience with the tools and practices for making India corruption free as well as RTI & transparency in administration. He also talked about digital India, Whistleblower act and cashless economy as government efforts towards it.
Street Play Performances ‘Corruption Haye Corruption’
Earlier, on 3rd November, 2022, students of Semester I and III M.A. /M.Sc. Development Extension, Department of Adult and Continuing Education & Extension (DACEE) prepared and presented a street play entitled – Corruption Haye Corruption.
The street plays were performed at two venues on the university campus. The first performance was held in the Front lawns of the Faculty of Education, Gate 20 at 12.30 p.m. The 2nd performance was held at 3:30 pm at the Main Campus on the Side front lawns of Gate 07.
The production was prepared under the supervision of the HoD, Prof. Shikha Kapur and the Student Coordinators Ms. Qudsiya Mehwish, Mr. Anindya Dasgupta and Ms. Mahera Yusuf.
At both the venues, a large number of audiences including the students, teachers and the administrative staff from various Faculties viz. Education, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Law, Humanities and different Centres witnessed the performances.
The Street Play production incorporated all facets of Indian people’s lives- ration, pension, education, administration, politics, where the termite of corruption is plaguing and impeding the country’s development. In all, the Street Play production ‘Corruption Haye Corruption’ was very successful in delivering a social message to potentially awaken the audiences to existing corruption and how it is impacting the country’s development. The audience enjoyed the Street Play production and it ended with a hope and a carry home message aimed at ushering a change in the mind-sets against corruption.
The Street Play production was supported with an enthusiastic one-day Theatre Workshop conducted by the Alumni of Anubhuti, the Theatre society of Sri Venkateswara College, University of Delhi. The whole department participated with zeal to make the production- ‘Corruption Haye Corruption’ successful.
