Sacrifice and us! Haji Muhammad Iqbal

Agra. Haji Muhammad Iqbal, Khatib and Imam Juma of Nahar Wali Masjid located in Sikandra, said in the Khutbe-e-Juma that In today’s Friday sermon an important pillar of Islam, Hajj, will be discussed. At this time, Muslims from all over the world are reaching Makkah Mukarrama to do Tawaf of the house of Allah and to appear in the field of Arafat. Hajj is the presence of Arafat. The Muslim who cannot reach Arafat, offers Eid-ul-Azha prayer in his country and offers his sacrifice to Allah. What is this sacrifice and why is it done? Actually this is the Sunnah of Ibrahim Alaihissalam. Alas, we remember only ‘Sacrifice’. The dialogue between ‘Father and Son’ mentioned in the Qur’an is not known, which is the actual thing. This conversation is recorded in Surah Saaffaat from verse 100 to 107. It has been said- “O My Lord, grant me a son from among the righteous. So We gave him good tidings of a forbearing boy. And when he reached with him the age of exertion, he said, O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I must sacrifice you, so see what you think ? He said, O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, of the steadfast. And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead, We called to him, O Ibrahim, You have fulfilled the vision. Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good. Indeed, this was the clear trial. And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice.” We are not aware of this conversation, it needs to be understood that he became ready to sacrifice his beloved in front of Allah’s order. To what extent are we obeying the orders of Allah? Everyone needs to think on this, this is the meaning behind the sacrifice. While performing the sacrifice, keep this thing in your mind that O Allah, the way I am performing this Sunnah of your Khalil, I will follow your order in my life in the same way. May Allah grant us all the abilities for this. Aameen.
