Chennai/New Delhi। The Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India entered into an umbrella MoU with Sri Ramaswamy Memorial Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur, Tamil Nadu to foster collaboration in the area of research and development in Unani Medicine at Chennai today
The MoU was signed by Dr. N. Zaheer Ahmed, Director General, CCRUM and Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan, Vice-chancellor, SRMIST in the presence of senior officers from both the institutions.
The CCRUM and SRMIST agreed to collaborate in the fields of their mutual interest including new drug development, preclinical safety and efficacy studies, pharmaceutical analysis, quality control and microbiological studies of Unani formulations. The MoU also encompasses exchange of faculty members and researchers, knowledge sharing, joint supervision of PG, doctoral, post-doctoral studies, organization of institutional training, specialized lectures and seminars.
A joint steering committee comprising representatives from both the institutions will be constituted to take-up collaborative projects in the field of research and development in Unani Medicine as per the MoU.
The team of CCRUM officials also visited the Interdisciplinary Institute of Indian System of Medicine (IIISM) facility of SRM University on the occasion.
