NARI SHAKTI VANDAN RUN TO CELEBRATE 75TH REPUBLIC DAY IN AGRA

Agra . The Nari Shakti Vandan Run was flagged in by Mrs Rajshri Mishra and Officiating Group Commander, Group HQ NCC, Col K J Singh at Agra Cantt on 19 Jan under the aegis of NCC Group HQ, Agra. Major Shashi Mehta of NCC is the forbearer of this running expedition, running from Jhansi to Delhi covering 470 Kms, averaging 80 Kms per day.

The run is being organised by NCC to celebrate the achievements and role of women in the journey of nation building on the occasion of 75th Republic Day. NCC cadets at various places enroute the run are
participating for short distances along with Maj Shashi Mehta.

The Chief Guest of the event, Mrs Rajshri Mishra is a proud Veer Nari of the Indian Army, whose husband Maj CS Mishra, SC gave supreme
sacrifice for the nation on 06 Dec 1996 and was awarded Shaurya Chakra for the same.

200 NCC girl cadets also participated in the memorable event. A befitting cultural program was presented by the girl cadets of NCC Group Agra. Maj Shashi Mehta addressed and personally interacted with the audience and motivated all present about the stellar role played by women and NCC in Nation Building, as also about the importance of physical fitness and mental fortitude. It is to be noted that she is an elite runner of the country with remarkable achievements in the field of ultra long running events, whilst holding number 1 rank in India in the woman’s 24 hour run category.

Col K J Singh, also addressed the audience and exhorted girl cadets to dream and to achieve their dreams with a single minded focus. The event culminated with an informal interaction of cadets with guests and officers of NCC Agra Group and a High Tea for all.
