Protect Yourself from Shaytan by Practicing the Sunnah of Ibrahim : Muhammad Iqbal

Agra | In today’s Friday sermon, Muhammad Iqbal, Imam of the Masjid Nehar Wali, emphasized the importance of incorporating the Sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim into our lives. He explained that just as we symbolically throw pebbles at Shaytan at the Jamarat during Hajj, this is the place where Shaytan tried to mislead Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) when he was taking Prophet Ismail (peace be upon him) for sacrifice according to Allah’s command. At that time, Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) threw pebbles at Shaytan, which pleased Allah and this Sunnah was established until the Day of Judgment. Similarly, whenever Shaytan whispers into a person’s heart or tries to prevent a person from performing righteous deeds while fulfilling Allah’s command, one should immediately become alert. One should attempt to metaphorically throw pebbles at such thoughts. In such situations, what saves a person is the fear of Allah in the heart. When there is fear of Allah in the heart, the person is protected from these satanic whispers. This is explained in the Quran in Surah Al-A’raf, Ayat number 201– “Indeed, those who fear Allah, when an impulse touches them from Shaytan, they remember [Him] and at once they have insight.” From this, it is understood that the heart that has the fear of Allah will be safeguarded from satanic whispers. Therefore, in such situations, remember the Sunnah of Ibrahim, seek forgiveness from Allah, and strive to correct oneself. When will the fear of Allah arise? When we not only believe in Allah but also ‛obey’ Allah. May Allah include all of us in the list of His obedient servants. Ameen.
