Muslim Rashtriya Manch Advocates for Peace & Brotherhood on Dussehra

New Delhi. The Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) convened its 15-member National Convener Council in an online meeting today, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Dussehra. The meeting aimed to promote a powerful message of global peace, harmony, and collective responsibility. With the rising tide of conflict and division, the council emphasized the urgent need for unity and environmental conservation, deciding on several key initiatives to enhance these objectives.

Shahid Sayeed, the National Convener and Media In-charge, opened the session with an inspiring statement: “Dussehra inspires us to embrace truth, faith, and justice. As we commemorate the victory of good over evil, we must unite to safeguard humanity against the forces of war and division. Today, we are called to conquer the ‘Ravana’ within ourselves, fostering a spirit of understanding and compassion.”

Reiterating the universal values of peace, love, and non-violence, Sayeed noted that all religions advocate for these principles. While Lord Ram exemplifies non-violence in Sanatan Dharma, the teachings of Prophet Muhammad emphasize peace and goodwill in Islam. Similarly, the philosophies of Guru Nanak, Mahatma Buddha, Jain sages, and the Nirankari community advocate for humanity and compassion, while Jesus Christ also chose the path of peace. Sayeed posed a crucial question: “If all religions and communities champion unity and harmony, why do we struggle to defeat the ‘devil’ within? How long will we toy with the essence of humanity and the divine world we inhabit?”

Appeal for Peace and Harmony

The council expressed profound concern regarding the turmoil in war-torn regions such as Israel-Palestine, Ukraine-Russia, and Iran-Turkey. National Convener Dr. Shahid Akhtar remarked, “War not only devastates lives but also erodes our cultural and moral heritage.” The MRM urges the leaders of these nations to pursue peace through understanding and collaboration, emphasizing dialogue over conflict. Dr. Akhtar announced that the MRM is committed to an international campaign focused on disseminating the message of peace worldwide.

Condemnation of China’s Expansionism

The meeting also condemned China’s expansionist policies, asserting that such aggression poses a significant threat to regional stability and global peace. The Manch calls on all nations to collectively oppose these actions and work towards upholding international harmony.

Impact of War on the Environment

In discussing the severe environmental consequences of conflict, National Convener Mohammad Afzal highlighted the pollution, water contamination, and wildlife displacement resulting from war. He noted that these issues present a grave threat not only to the environment but also to future generations. As a response, the Manch resolved to launch a dedicated awareness campaign focused on environmental protection, prioritizing relief efforts and ecological restoration in war-affected areas.

Message of Inclusivity and Brotherhood

Dr. Shalini Ali, National Convener and Mentor of the Women’s Wing, underscored the importance of fostering inclusivity and brotherhood in diverse societies like India. She announced that the MRM will initiate programs aimed at uniting individuals from all backgrounds, enhancing mutual understanding and harmony while celebrating religious and cultural diversity.

Grim Statistics of Wars

Dr. Majid Taliqoti presented alarming statistics on the impacts of war, reporting that thousands of lives have been lost in the Israel-Palestine conflict alone, with countless others perishing in the Ukraine-Russia war, leading to over 15 million people displaced. He emphasized that wars inflict profound harm on humanity, the environment, and public health, with rising pollution contributing to a surge in diseases and mental health crises.

Key Decisions Made at the Meeting

  1. Promotion of World Peace: The Manch will launch an international campaign to spread the message of peace, particularly targeting regions currently affected by conflict.
  2. Environmental and Wildlife Conservation: Awareness campaigns will be organized to address the environmental destruction caused by war, emphasizing the need for ecological restoration.
  3. Inclusivity and Cultural Cooperation: The MRM will collaborate with various cultural and religious organizations to promote inclusivity and respect for diversity.
  4. Awareness Campaign on the Consequences of War: A dedicated campaign will be initiated to educate the public on the real impacts of war, encouraging steps towards peace and reconciliation.

Dissemination of Dussehra’s Message, Special Decisions, and Initiatives

The Media In-charge reported that the MRM is committed to disseminating the essence of Dussehra across the nation and beyond. Special programs and meetings will be organized to unite people from all faiths, conveying messages of peace and harmony. This initiative aims to honor cultural diversity while fostering unity.

Shahid Sayeed concluded, “The resolutions from this National Convener Council meeting reaffirm that without peace and harmony, humanity’s progress is unattainable. On this auspicious occasion of Dussehra, the Manch urges citizens to join hands for peace and harmony, while also praying for the war-affected nations. Let us encourage all segments of society to contribute to global peace and coexistence.”
