Hyderabad,:Mediaeval thinkers ushered the Golden Era of political thought in the East when the West was in dark age, said Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice Chancellor of Maulana Azad National Urdu University at the naugural ceremony of Certificate Course on “Political Thought of Medieval Period” held at Govt. Degree College for Women, Hussaini Alam.
Speaking as the chief guest of the event organized by the college’s Department of Political Science in New Seminar Hall, Prof. Hasan noted that the mediaeval Muslim thinkers bridged the gap between ancient and modern political thoughts. He added that their contributions in linking abstract reasoning and pragmatism needs attention of students and researchers.
The program commenced with an introduction to the college by Mrs. Sridevi, IQAC Coordinator, followed by Dr. Farhana Sultana, the Course Coordinator, who provided insights into the Department and the structure of the certificate course. Dr. K. Srikanth, Academic Coordinator, highlighted the academic activities, and Dr. G.H. Anuradha, Convenor of the Certificate Course Committee, emphasized the importance of such courses for student development.
Following the inaugural speeches, Prof. Mohd Zulfiqar Mohiuddin Siddique, Head of the Department of Arabic, discussed the significance of seeking knowledge beyond the curriculum, and Dr. Latha, the Vice Principal, elaborated on developmental activities at the college. The session also included a presentation by Dr. Mohammed Ghouse on a new book relevant to the course.
The ceremony continued with the release of the book by the Chief Guest, Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, along with other dignitaries, marking a milestone in the college’s commitment to enhancing academic resources. Guests were felicitated by the Principal and organizing committee, and Prof. C.H. Appiya Chinnamma, Principal of the college, delivered the presidential remarks, underscoring the importance of academic programs in the holistic development of students.
The event witnessed a hall-packed gathering of distinguished guests, faculty, and students. Other notable guests included Prof. G. Yadagiri and Prof. Rajinder Singh, Joint Directors; Prof. Bala Bhaskar, Academic Guidance Officer; Prof. Afroz Alam, Head of the Department of Political Science at MANUU; Prof. Majeed Bedar from Osmania University; and Dr. Mohammed Ghouse, Head of the Department of Political Science and Course Director.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Syeda Zohra Jabeen, expressing gratitude to all guests, faculty members, and students for their participation and support.
After the inauguration, Prof. Mohammed Abdul Sami Siddiqui, Director, CPDUMT MANUU Hyderabad engaged the students for the first class introducing the political thinker, Al Farabi and his thoughts.
