Doctors of SN Medical College removed a kidney stone of 400 grams through a complex surgery

Agra;  60-year-old patient underwent a complex kidney surgery at Sarojini Naidu Medical College.

It is worth mentioning that the patient was suffering from kidney disease for the last 2 years. After various tests, it was found that the patient had staghorn calculus in his left kidney, which is a type of kidney stone that can repeatedly form due to urinary tract infection (UTI).

This complex surgery was performed by senior doctors of the surgery department, Dr. Richa Jaiman, Dr. Puneet Srivastava and Dr. Bhavana Verma. After a surgery that lasted for about 2 hours, the 8*8cm and 400g stone was completely removed successfully.

Dr. Richa Jaiman said that this is a complex type of disease. The patient came to the hospital in a critical condition. This disease can be fatal if the correct diagnosis is not done at the right time. According to the patient, he had also undergone a kidney operation 40 years ago.  Operation is necessary to prevent infection and recurrence.

According to Dr. Richa Jaiman, usually this surgery is done by PCNL procedure, but due to the stone being very large, they had to resort to open surgery, which was a challenging and complex surgery.

Dr. Priyanka, Dr. Lalit and Dr. Manu were also included in the medical team. Dr. Apoorv Mittal from the anesthesia department and Dr. Manjari contributed to his team.

Dr. Prashant Gupta, Principal and Dean of SN Medical College Agra, said that the most complex surgeries are done in SN Medical College Agra, due to which patients from Agra and many nearby areas are getting benefited.
