Mumbai: Former first-class cricketer Abhishek Sakuja is all set to play for the Southern Spartans in the inaugural season of the Big Cricket League 2024 (BCL). The Spartans picked up Abhishek during the player draft in Mumbai on Saturday, November 30. He will be part of a star-studded lineup with Suresh Raina taking charge as the team’s marquee player.
Abhishek Sakuja, a dynamic all-rounder known for his sharp left-arm spin bowling and useful middle-order batting, will join an exciting squad of international cricketing talent. The Southern Spartans’ roster includes some heavyweights of international cricket, with star Indian batter Suresh Raina, South African legend Herschelle Gibbs, English wicket-keeper batter Phil Mustard and Zimbabwe’s Solomon Mire in the squad.
Former India internationals Faiz Fazal, Abhimanyu Mithun and former Kings XI Punjab batter Paul Valthaty will also join Sakuja on the field. Abhishek’s inclusion in the squad brings much experience, making the Southern Spartans a team to watch in the tournament.

Sakuja will face off against some of the biggest cricketing names, including Shikhar Dhawan, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, Tamim Iqbal, Stuart Binny, and Imran Tahir making for a thrilling competition. With his all-round abilities and impressive performances in recent T20 leagues, Abhishek Sakuja is poised to be a key player for the Spartans.
