Agra | In today’s Friday Sermon, The preacher (Khateeb) of Masjid Neharwali, Muhammad Iqbal, encouraged people to help the oppressed. He said that before the announcement of Prophethood, a few people in Makkah had made a mutual agreement. Its purpose was to stop robbery and oppression and to commit themselves to supporting the oppressed and ensuring that the rightful person received their rights from the oppressor. You can understand its significance from the fact that even the Prophet of Allah was part of this agreement. He also said that if he were called to participate in it after Prophethood, he would still join it. Today, the situation in Muslim areas is such that people are troubling each other. Some are trying to humiliate others, some are busy framing others in false cases, and some are engrossed in grabbing others’ wealth. In short, anyone who gets some power or opportunity tries to suppress the weak. Such incidents are frequently happening in Muslim communities. Yet, people remain “neutral.” Even the responsible individuals of the community do not intervene in these matters. Are we “living” in an era worse than the pre-Islamic ignorance, where the mutual agreement admired by the Prophet existed? In this educated era, turning a blind eye to these things, is this what humanity and Islam teach us? Servants of Allah! Do not remain neutral. Step forward to help the oppressed. Ensure that the oppressor’s rights are given to the oppressed. Won’t we have to stand before our Lord? What answer will we give at that time? Everyone should make an effort according to their capacity. May Allah grant us the ability to do so. Aameen.
