Agra. Hindustan College of Science and Technology, the prestigious institute of Sharda Group, in collaboration with the Association of Progressive Schools of Agra (APSA), inaugurated a four-day workshop on ‘Discovery of Physics through Experiment’ from 21 to 24 December, 2024 under Raman-IAPT Anveshika, Agra in the presence of eminent physicist and author of “Concepts of Physics”, Prof. H. C. Verma, Executive Vice President of Sharda Group Prof. V. K. Sharma, Director of the Institute Dr. R. S. Pavitra, Dean R & D Prof. M. S. Gaur and Deputy Registrar of Sharda Group, Program Coordinator Mr. Manish Gupta with garlanding the picture of Maa Saraswati and lighting the lamp and reciting Saraswati Vandana.
On this occasion, Executive Vice President of the Institute Prof. V. K. Sharma and the Director of the Institute, Dr. R.S. Pavitra welcomed Prof.H.C. Verma with a bouquet and a shawl.
The workshop is being organized under the guidance of Padma Shri Professor H.C. Verma, National Coordinator of National Anveshika Network of India (NANI) and a distinguished physicist of IIT Kanpur.
On this occasion, the Executive Vice President of the Institute, Prof. V.K. Sharma and the Director of the Institute, Dr. R.S. Pavitra thanked Prof. S.C. Verma for visiting the Institute and said that physics is a natural science that studies matter, energy and their interactions. It is a way to understand the world around us and said that physics is an integral part of our life and by understanding it, we can better understand technological development and scientific discoveries.
On this occasion, in his address, Prof. S.C. Verma said that physics begins from our birth. He explained Newton’s law of gravity in which he said that every object remains at rest until an external force is applied on it. Secondly, if we apply force on an object, acceleration will be produced. And thirdly, it was told that every object attracts another object and this force of attraction depends on their mass and distance. He highlighted the transformative power of experimental physics in classrooms, explaining how practical experiments can make learning more engaging and meaningful for students.
The first day of the workshop saw active participation from 48 teachers representing 42 schools from Agra and Mathura regions. This diverse group of teachers shared a common goal of adopting innovative teaching methods to improve student engagement in physics.
Participants explored a wide range of experiments ranging from low-cost, easily implementable to advanced demonstrations of complex concepts. These sessions provided teachers with actionable suggestions to make physics lessons more interactive and impactful. The collaborative learning environment promoted mutual exchange of ideas, adding to the overall value of the workshop.
The aim of this workshop is not only to motivate the students to foster their interest in physics but also to help them lay a strong foundation for their future career.
Through this event at Hindustan College, the students of the region will get an opportunity to explore new dimensions in the field of science and develop the ability to learn science through the day-to-day activities. This session will be an unforgettable experience for the students and will inspire them for the future.
On this occasion, Chairman of Sharda Group, PK Gupta and Vice Chairman, YK Gupta extended their best wishes.
