AGRA METRO: THE YEAR THAT WAS

Metro run around 4.8 lakh km; 15 lakh proud passengers avail metro facility in the year

The year 2024 started on an eventful note for Agra Metro Rail Project and we achieved a historic feat as the priority corridor from Taj East Gate to Mankameshwar Metro Station became operational on 6th March, 2024. The passenger services on the 6 km long priority stretch were inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi in presence of Hon’ble CM of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath.

Agra Metro also set a historic record by completing the underground section of the priority stretch in just 23 months and the tunnel construction in just 11 months from the date of inauguration. The priority section was completed 6-month ahead of the schedule, and once again we proved our dedication to deliver a world class metro rail system to the people of Agra within the set timeline.

MULTI MODAL INTEGRATION: A KEY FEATURE

The Agra Metro route successfully connects the heritage monuments which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Taj Mahal, Agra Red fort, the Ancient Mankameshwar Temple etc. thereby making it convenient for tourists to explore Agra city. Metro is not only a safe but a cost-effective public transport vis-a-vis other public transports in the city. Agra city will be soon connected in all directions through a total of 29.4 km stretch i.e Corridor-1 from Taj East Gate to Sikandara and Corridor-2, from Agra Cantt to Kalindi Vihar, making intra city travel an easy and affordable affair for the common public.

SUSTAINABLE FUTURE: CLEAN METRO, GREEN METRO

Metro is also meeting the internationals standards of sustainability by fulfilling United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) for clean transportation 11.2 as a safe means of transport for all ages and gender. The ergonomic design and safety standards have facilitated not only children and women but also especially abled people to commute in a hassle-free manner.

POLLUTION CONTROL MEASURES:

In order to curb pollution and mitigate dust etc. at the construction sites, Agra Metro team diligently works day and night to mitigate the impact of pollution by using several measures. Regular usage of Anti-Smog Guns at construction sites to minimize dust particles, manual brooming, toe dusting etc are some of the measures undertaken to keep pollution levels at minimum.

It is also to be noted that Agra Metro is an extremely sustainable mode of transport as it works on regenerative breaking, saving up to 45% of the energy and can move large number of people in one trip, thereby reducing the pressure on the roads and reducing vehicular traffic.

UPCOMING CORRIDORS:

The goal of Agra to become a smart city is not a distance dream now. With the commencing of civil work on the second corridor from Agra Cantt to Kalindi Vihar and the balance section of the first corridor (Medical College to Sikandra), the ongoing metro project will interconnect all the major spots in the city including other transport facilities like railway stations, ISBT bus stand etc with all other locations in the city. Moreover, the tunneling work on the underground balance section of the first corridor is progressing at a fast pace and the underground stretch of the balance section (Till RBS College) will be ready for operations very soon.

CELEBRATION ON WHEELS: BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION A HIT AMONG KIDS; SHOW YOUR TALENT A PLATFORM FOR YOUNG ARTISTS

Along with hassle free and seamless movement, Passenger engagement activities are also an integral part of Agra Metro as we strongly believe in providing an ultimate travel experience to the people. Travel coupled with celebrations doubles the fun for our commuters. Birthday, Anniversary and Kitty parties can be organised inside moving metro and celebrations can be done inside the metro coach which was a hit this year among people of all ages, specially children.

Apart from this, Agra Metro also gives opportunity to budding artists to showcase their talent at Agra Metro Stations where the commuters appreciate their talent and they expand their reach among the audience. In the past year, several Show Your Talent evenings have been organised at Agra Metro stations.

With high hopes and a firm determination to deliver a world class metro system to the people of Agra, team UPMRC is looking forward to the year 2025 as Agra Metro continues to embark on a journey to blend heritage with progress!
