The organisers described the five-day-long event as a grand success. Notably, the invitation extended to Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala to speak at a seminar on fascism, organ- ised as part of the celebrations, drew considerable attention.
During his address at the seminar on Saturday, Chen- nithala criticised the BJP and the RSS, accusing them of de- liberately creating divisions in the country. He further alleged that calculated efforts were being made to provoke tensions by questioning the own ership of places of worship.
“Attempts are being made to excavate plac es of worship, with ownership claims be- ing raised over them. After Babri Masjid. the focus has shifted to Mathura, Gyan- vapi, and Ajmer. Is this intended to unite the people of India or divide them? The Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act, 1991, prohibits the conver sion of any place of worship and mandates the maintenance of their religious character as they existed on August 15, 1947. Despite this law, deliberate at- tempts are being made to insti gate tensions in the country,” Chennithala said.
