According to sources, in the hearing held in the Allahabad High Court, the current Vice Chancellor Shyamal Narain had sought three more weeks to appear in the court and file a counter-affidavit. The court, while issuing orders on January 9, 25, gave three more weeks, but took a strict stance and clearly said that no more time will be given to file a counter-affidavit in this case, and also said that if any Rejoinder affidavit is to be filed, it should be filed within a week, along with these orders that this case should be listed as a top ten case on February 11, 2025. The court has also made it clear that no application for adjournment will be admissible and the case will be decided on a later date.
It should be noted that in the case filed in the Allahabad High Court, irregularities were alleged in the process of the VC panel, and it was said that it was against the rules for the acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Gulrez, to vote for his wife, who was a candidate for the post of VC, and to preside over the meeting. The rules were ignored in the process of the Vice Chancellor panel in AMU.
