ONE YEAR OF AGRA METRO: TRANSPORTING HAPPINESS; CREATING MEMORIES

The year 2024 began on an eventful note for Agra Metro Rail Project and we achieved a historic feat as the priority corridor from Taj East Gate to Mankameshwar Metro Station became operational on 6th March, 2024. The passenger services on the 6 km long priority stretch were inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi in presence of Hon’ble CM of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath.
Creating History and making records
Agra Metro also set a historic record by completing the underground section of the priority stretch in just 23 months and the tunnel construction in just 11 months from the date of inauguration. The priority section was completed 6-month ahead of the schedule, and once again we proved our dedication to deliver a world class metro rail system to the people of Agra within the set timeline.

17 LAKH PROUD PASSENGERS!
Around 17 lakh proud passengers have shown their trust in Agra Metro and availed metro as a a means of transport for travelling in the city. The numbers keep increasing everyday and due to the seamless connectivity with monuments like the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Mankameshwar Temple, tourists and visitors continue to avail metro facility for hassle free transit!

SUSTAINABLE FUTURE: CLEAN METRO, GREEN METRO
Metro is also meeting the internationals standards of sustainability by fulfilling United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) for clean transportation 11.2 as a safe means of transport for all ages and gender. The ergonomic design and safety standards have facilitated not only children and women but also especially abled people to commute in a hassle-free manner.

POLLUTION CONTROL MEASURES:
In order to curb pollution and mitigate dust etc. at the construction sites, Agra Metro team diligently works day and night to mitigate the impact of pollution by using several measures. Regular usage of Anti-Smog Guns at construction sites to minimize dust particles, manual brooming, toe dusting etc are some of the measures undertaken to keep pollution levels at minimum.
It is also to be noted that Agra Metro is an extremely sustainable mode of transport as it works on regenerative breaking, saving up to 45% of the energy and can move large number of people in one trip, thereby reducing the pressure on the roads and reducing vehicular traffic.

MULTI MODAL INTEGRATION: A KEY FEATURE
The Agra Metro route successfully connects the heritage monuments which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Taj Mahal, Agra Red fort, the Ancient Mankameshwar Temple etc. thereby making it convenient for tourists to explore Agra city. Metro is not only a safe but a cost-effective public transport vis-a-vis other public transports in the city. Agra city will be soon connected in all directions through a total of 29.4 km stretch i.e Corridor-1 from Taj East Gate to Sikandara and Corridor-2, from Agra Cantt to Kalindi Vihar, making intra city travel an easy and affordable affair for the common public.

AGRA METRO’S SECOND CORRIDOR:
With the construction work for the corridor 2 commencing successfully, the metro corridor will now integrate all major points of the city, namely Agra Cantt. Railway Station, Sanjay Place, M.G. Road which is also called the ‘lifeline of Agra’ and so on.
The casting of the U-Girder for Corridor-2 was inaugurated recently and the piling work is already being carried out successfully for the stretch.
The goal of Agra to become a smart city is not a distance dream now. The balance section of the first corridor (Medical College to Sikandra) is also progressing at a fast pace. Moreover, the tunneling work on the underground balance section of the first corridor is progressing at a fast pace and the underground stretch of the balance section (Till RBS College) will be ready for operations very soon.

TRANSPORTING HAPPINESS :

As an organisation we believe that travel must be always coupled with happiness and ensuring overall premium services to our proud passengers, we aim to provide passenger engagement through birthday , kitty and anniversary celebration in moving metro.
These initiatives have been welcomed with open arms by our dear passengers and the demand to celebrate special days in a decorated metro coach is rising day by day.

With high hopes and a firm determination to deliver a world class metro system to the people of Agra, team UPMRC is looking forward to the year 2025 as Agra Metro continues to embark on a journey to blend heritage with progress!
