Patna, A massive protest is set to take place in Patna tomorrow, March 26, jointly organized by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) and various religious and community-based Muslim organizations to oppose the Waqf Amendment Bill.
The protest, expected to draw large crowds from Patna and across Bihar, will be held at Dharna Sthal in Patna. This demonstration aims to express strong opposition to the bill, which is deemed discriminatory, unjust, and a direct attack on Muslims’ constitutional rights in India.
The organizers allege that the true intent of the bill is to pave the way for encroachment on Waqf lands, trigger disputes, and mislead the public by portraying the Waqf Amendment Bill as a reform measure to bring transparency, prevent misuse of Waqf properties, and channel revenues to benefit poor Muslims.
Through this press conference, Muslim leadership aims to express its deep disappointment and resentment with political parties, especially Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party, Telugu Desam Party, and Rashtriya Lok Dal. These parties once claimed to be secular and champions of justice but are now seen supporting the BJP’s communal and divisive agenda.
The organizers urge these parties to reconsider their stance by withdrawing support for the controversial bill. By doing so, they can protect their secular image and avoid being complicit in violating constitutional obligations and minority rights. The organizers further warn of dire consequences of losing Muslim support if they fail to do so.
