Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi among key leaders named; Congress workers express strong dissent
Agra, Following the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) filing of a chargesheet against senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Sam Pitroda, and Suman Dubey in the National Herald case, Congress workers staged a strong protest in Agra. Acting on directives from the party’s national leadership, the protest was jointly organized by the District Congress Committee and the City Congress Committee at the district headquarters.

The protest was led by District President Ramnath Sikarwar and City President Amit Singh, who accused the central government of engaging in vindictive politics. They stated that the ED action was an attack on democratic values and an attempt to intimidate the opposition.
“The seizure of National Herald’s property is a state-sponsored crime disguised under the rule of law,” said Ramnath Sikarwar. “This chargesheet is nothing but political vendetta orchestrated by the Prime Minister and Home Minister. But the Congress will not remain silent.”
City President Amit Singh questioned the timing of the chargesheet in a case that is over 12 years old. “Young India is a non-profit organization. No financial transactions or property transfers took place. The allegations of money laundering are completely baseless,” he said. He further alleged that the move was a reaction to the tough questions Rahul Gandhi has been raising against the government.
Protesting Congress workers claimed the ruling party fears the issues raised by Congress and its leadership. They said institutions like the ED and CBI are being misused to target political opponents. “Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi will not be intimidated by these actions and will fight for truth in the court of law,” said a local leader.
Several prominent Congress leaders and workers participated in the demonstration, including former city president Ashwani Jain, Jalal Uddin, Deepak Sharma, Satendra Dubey, Tahir Hussain, Dr. Madhurima Sharma, Lata Kumari, Sateesh Sikarwar, Habib Quraishi, Rajeev Gupta, Yakub Sheikh, Abhay Singh, Vivek Singh, and many others.
