Living in the Present is Key to Balancing Work and Personal Life

On Day 5 of the Mental Health Carnival, ‘Feelings Minds’ hosts a special workshop

Dr. Chinu Agrawal shares principles of mindfulness; Swati Jain from Chhattisgarh leads practical session

Agra. Memories of the past and worries about the future often pull us away from the present moment, directly impacting both our professional and personal lives. A special workshop on “Living in the Present” was organized on Thursday as part of the ongoing seven-day Mental Health Carnival by Feelings Minds.

Held at the organization’s office on Vimal Vihar, Sikandra-Bodla Road, the session was led by Dr. Chinu Agrawal, founder of Feelings Minds and an internationally renowned psychologist. She emphasized that in the pursuit of success, people often lose balance—those excelling professionally may struggle personally and vice versa. True well-being lies in maintaining harmony between the two, she said.

Dr. Agrawal introduced the ancient practice of mindfulness, describing it as a method rooted in centuries-old traditions, including references in the Vigyan Bhairav Tantra, where Lord Shiva is said to have shared it with Goddess Parvati. “Mindfulness teaches us the art of being present in the ‘here and now’,” she explained. She also mentioned receiving formal training in the subject from NIMHANS, Bengaluru.

Swati Jain, a parenting coach from Chhattisgarh and the workshop’s guest speaker, stated that staying curious like children and being spontaneous in decision-making helps us stay connected with the present. She guided participants—including doctors from SN Medical College—through a mindfulness meditation session.

Chief Guest Dr. Satya Saraswat shared his personal experience of suffering from chronic tinnitus (ringing in the ears). After conventional treatments failed, he turned to mindfulness under Dr. Agrawal’s guidance and reported significant improvement.

Special Guest Dr. Preeti Saraswat noted, “When the mind is in balance, its peace reflects on the face and brings harmony to family life as well.”

Dr. Ravindra Agrawal, co-founder of Feelings Minds, announced that on Friday, a special session titled “Food for Mental Health” will be held at 4:30 PM, focusing on nutrition and mindful eating for better mental well-being.
