Report Shozab Muneer
Aligarh. The Aligarh Muslim University is always in news screams it’s administration. The claim is that AMU is tarnished by the media, however, the media feels AMU’S claim is far from the truth, since AMU breaks into the news for all the wrong reasons. The reader of through a reading of this news will assess whether AMU’S claim is a fact or a fiction.
The AMU Joint Register (Admin-Non teaching) (JR) on April 8. 2025 issued an OM no. 670/NT/AA, wherein orders of the Vice Chancellor are communicated for appointment/extension to Deputy director (DD) and Assistant director (AD) in the Directorate of School Education (DSE). On the AMU website the web page of the Directorate does not mention any DD or AD. Prof Asfar Ali Khan, the Director of DSE, who is has been an OSD VC Office for the last nearly ten years, when asked replied that there are two posts each of DD and AD.

The OM of the JR spells out that the VC has ordered Prof Abid Ali Khan and Prof Shaista Afroz, both DD, an extension in their tenure for the period upto April 8, to 2025 (the day of issue of the OM). A similar extension has been given to Prof Mohammed Shadab Khan as AD. However, interestingly the date from which the extension is granted is not given, but a cursory reading shows the extension is from back date – the first of its kind making a history.
The OM dated April 8, 2025 also extends the term of Prof Qudsiya Tahseen as DD from June 4, 2024 for two years i.e. upto June 4, 2026. The OM contradicts the statement of the Director, DSE, since from the OM it is easily discernible that there are three DDs in place from June 4, 2024. The senior faculty of the University are shocked and confused weather the statement of the Director or the OM is genuine for there is an obvious conflict between the two. According to the media personnel this is only possible in AMU, for it is amazing that three DDs are working on two positions – An impossible made possible again!!
The MIC PRO was approached regarding the reason for such obvious contraventions where the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. However, no reply was received till the publication of this news.
