Agra: Imam Mohammad Iqbal, Khateeb of Masjid Nehar Wali, urged people to remain cautious about fake videos, audio recordings and unverified information circulating on social media and news platforms.
Delivering his Friday sermon, he said that fake videos and misleading content are increasingly being used to present false information as truth, which can create confusion, misunderstanding and tension in society.
Referring to Islamic teachings, he said that people should verify any information before believing it or sharing it with others. He stressed that forwarding a video, audio clip or message without checking its authenticity can cause harm to individuals as well as society.
Imam Iqbal said that the misuse of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made it easier to create misleading videos and audio recordings. Therefore, people should exercise greater caution while using social media.
He said that if a person receives a suspicious video or audio clip, it should not be immediately forwarded. Instead, its authenticity should be checked through reliable sources or knowledgeable persons. If the content is found to be false or harmful, it should not be circulated further.
He also highlighted the importance of responsible use of mobile phones and social media. According to him, a false video that once remained limited to a few people can now reach thousands within minutes and may disturb peace in a community.
Imam Iqbal said that technology itself is not harmful, but its misuse can create serious problems. AI, if used positively and responsibly, can become a useful tool for society.
He appealed to people to think carefully before sharing anything online and to ensure that their actions do not cause harm to others or disturb social harmony.
