Sets 2027 Assembly Elections as Target; Vows to Continue the Fight to Protect the Constitution and Democracy
Lucknow: Newly appointed Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) President Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’ formally assumed charge of her office. Outgoing state Congress president Ajay Rai handed over the responsibility to her. On the occasion, Congress Working President and MP Imran Masood, Senior Vice Presidents Devendra Nishad and Alok Prasad also assumed their respective responsibilities. Newly appointed Congress Legislature Party leader Virendra Chaudhary was also present.
Addressing party leaders and workers after taking charge, Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’ said, “This is not a time for welcome ceremonies, but for struggle.” She said the Congress party had always fulfilled its responsibilities towards the nation. During the freedom movement, Congress workers followed Mahatma Gandhi’s leadership and made immense sacrifices for the country’s independence.
She said that freedom and democracy had been achieved after great sacrifices and that protecting the Constitution and democracy was the responsibility of every citizen. According to her, democracy and the Constitution are facing serious challenges, and Congress workers will continue their struggle under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi.
Appreciates Ajay Rai’s Contribution
Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’ expressed gratitude to outgoing state president Ajay Rai, acknowledging his efforts to strengthen the party organisation through sustained struggle.
She thanked him for handing over the responsibility in a traditional manner and said she would discharge the duties entrusted to her by the party’s senior leadership with complete dedication and sincerity. She also pledged to fight until her last breath to protect the dignity and honour of every Congress worker.
Congress Sets Its Sights on the 2027 Assembly Elections
The newly appointed state president said the party’s primary target was the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. She claimed that the organisational efforts made between 2019 and 2022 had begun to show results in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

According to her, the BJP faced a significant political challenge in Uttar Pradesh, while the central government had to depend on its alliance partners for support.
Expressing confidence about the upcoming elections, she said the Congress would work towards securing better results in 2027 and forming a strong government under the INDIA alliance.

She appealed to Congress workers across Uttar Pradesh to unite, strengthen the organisation and actively participate in the movement to safeguard the Constitution and democracy.

Raises Issues of Women’s Safety, Farmers and Youth
Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’ questioned the law-and-order situation in Uttar Pradesh and highlighted issues concerning alleged atrocities against women, farmers’ problems and challenges faced by young people.
She said the Congress party would continue to raise its voice firmly for the rights and interests of women, farmers and youth.
She also alleged that police personnel in Delhi had misbehaved with Congress leaders, MPs, women and women journalists. Raising concerns over alleged irregularities in voter lists, she criticised Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and said the party’s agitation would continue over demands for his resignation and the suspension of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.

Imran Masood Expresses Confidence in Congress–Samajwadi Party Alliance
Congress Working President and MP Imran Masood said Congress workers across Uttar Pradesh were enthusiastic and prepared for the political challenges ahead.

He stated that a decision on seat-sharing would be taken at the appropriate time and expressed confidence that the Congress and the Samajwadi Party would work together to form a government in Uttar Pradesh in 2027.
