At Agra’s Masjid Nehar Wali, Friday sermon urges people to avoid injustice, support the oppressed and reflect on their own actions
AGRA: Mohammad Iqbal, khateeb of Masjid Nehar Wali in Agra, said during the Friday sermon that Allah gives oppressors time, but does not ignore their wrongdoings. He urged people to treat everyone fairly, avoid injustice and stand with those who are suffering.
Referring to verse 42 of Surah Ibrahim in the Holy Quran, Mohammad Iqbal said that Allah is fully aware of the actions of those who commit injustice. He gives them time until a fixed day. He added that history offers many examples of communities that faced a terrible end because of their wrongdoing. He also referred to verse 59 of Surah Al-Kahf, which mentions the fate of communities destroyed because of their injustice.
Mohammad Iqbal said that no matter how difficult life becomes, people should remain patient and trust in Allah. At the same time, everyone should look at their own actions and ask whether they are treating anyone unfairly.
He explained that injustice does not happen only in major incidents. It can also occur in everyday life. People should treat their family members, relatives, friends and employees fairly. Nobody should be deprived of their rights, and people should avoid supporting those who commit injustice.
Referring to a saying of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), he explained that the Prophet taught Muslims to help their brother, whether he was an oppressor or an oppressed person.
When the companions asked how they could help an oppressor, the Prophet explained that stopping him from committing injustice was a way of helping him.
Mohammad Iqbal said that every Muslim should try to avoid wrongdoing and help people who are facing injustice whenever possible.
He said that history has seen many powerful kings and rulers, but their power did not last forever. The example of Pharaoh serves as a lesson for everyone.
He urged people not to be proud of their power, position or wealth. Instead, they should respect the rights of others and treat everyone fairly.
At the end of the sermon, Mohammad Iqbal said that people often notice the mistakes of others but ignore their own shortcomings. Everyone should examine their behaviour and actions. This message applies to ordinary people as well as those in positions of power.
He prayed that Allah protect everyone from injustice, give people the strength to help those who are suffering and guide rulers to make wise and fair decisions.
He concluded by urging people to respect the rights of others and remain committed to justice.
