New Delhi, The Academy expressed sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of JMI, Prof. Mazhar Asif, and the Registrar, Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, for all kinds of support and approval to conduct the workshop in collaboration with the Holistic Education Trust.

A three-day workshop on textbook revision and material development was organized from 8th October 2025 to 10th October 2025 in the Library-Cum-Committee Room of Urdu Academy, Noam Chomsky Complex, Jamia Millia Islamia. The workshop focused on the revision of Environmental Studies (Ham Aur Hamara Mahaul) textbooks for Class III and V. It was jointly organized by the Academy of Professional Development of Urdu Medium Teachers (APDUMT), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) and the Holistic Education Trust (HET), Delhi. The objective of the workshop was to revise and rationalize the content of textbooks in line with the frameworks of the National Education Policy (NEP-2020), the National Curriculum Framework for Foundational Stage (NCFFS-2022), and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE-2023).
In his opening remarks, Prof. Jasim Ahmad, Honorary Director, APDUMT, JMI, welcomed all the resource persons who joined the workshop and the workshop coordinators Janab Inamullah Falahi, Dr. Abdul Wahid Nazeer, and Dr. Hina Afrin. He elaborated on the major aims of the workshop, emphasizing the principles of content organization and the curricular goals outlined in NCFSE-2023. Prof. Ahmad underscored the importance of embedding the values, culture, and heritage of India in textbooks, while also integrating 21st-century skills. He highlighted that during the selection and inclusion of content, due consideration must be given to learners’ needs and contemporary challenges.
This was the third workshop in the series which focused on the finalization of the Teachers Handbook on Mahauliyati Taleem for Class I and II, Development of contents of Mahualiyati Taleem for Class III and V. During the workshop, resource persons engaged in both plenary discussions and subject/class-specific groups, leading to constructive debates and exchanges of ideas on the developed content. This collaborative process facilitated the addition of new content and the rewriting of existing ones, ensuring that the textbooks become more contextualized, relevant, and responsive to present-day educational needs of the children. The workshop concluded on 10th October 2025, with the draft of revised chapters and rationalized content being prepared. It was resolved that in the next workshop, the composed chapters would be presented and further deliberated upon to finalize the textbooks of Mahauliyat Taleem for Classes III and V.
The 3-day workshop ended at 5:00 PM on 10th October-2025 with a vote of thanks by the coordinator Dr. Wahid Nazeer to all the resource persons.
