Dayal Singh Evening College Hosts National Song Singing Festival
New Delhi, The 150th anniversary of India’s national song Vande Mataram is being commemorated across the country with a year-long series of events. As part of this national initiative, Dayal Singh Evening College organized a grand Vande Mataram Singing Festival on its campus.

The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Prof. Yogesh Singh, Vice Chancellor of the University of Delhi; Prof. Balram Pani, Dean of Colleges; Dr. Vikas Gupta, Registrar; Prof. D. S. Chauhan, Chairman of the College; Prof. Bhavna Pandey, Principal of Dayal Singh Evening College; and Prof. V. K. Paliwal, Principal of Dayal Singh College.

In his address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh highlighted that Vande Mataram is a timeless symbol of India’s national consciousness, cultural pride, and patriotic spirit. He emphasized that completing 150 years is not merely an occasion for celebration, but a moment to honour the historic significance of this iconic composition. Prof. Singh also remembered Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, noting that his creation ignited a revolutionary wave during India’s freedom struggle and left an indelible mark on the nation’s history.

Principal Prof. Bhavna Pandey spoke about the illustrious legacy of the college and reflected on the deep sense of patriotism embodied in Vande Mataram. Chairman Prof. D. S. Chauhan also elaborated on the national song’s profound role in awakening collective consciousness during the freedom movement.
The event featured a powerful collective rendition of Vande Mataram by students, creating an atmosphere filled with pride, unity, and cultural reverence. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.
