In the true spirit of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (“The World is One Family”) and “Atithi Devo Bhava” (“The Guest is Like God”), India proudly hosted the World Para Athletics Championship 2025 in New Delhi. Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) orchestrated a magnificent and seamless event that showcased India’s warmth, efficiency, and organizational excellence.

This landmark championship welcomed athletes from over 100 nations, competing in 186 events. India’s 73 para-athletes delivered a historic performance, clinching 22 medals—6 gold, 9 silver, and 7 bronze—marking the nation’s finest achievement in the championship’s history. This triumph underscores India’s growing prowess in global para-sports.
A Showcase of Indian Hospitality
Exemplary Hosting and Global Praise
The event’s success was a testament to India’s capability as a compassionate and capable host of world-class sporting events. Over 500 volunteers, including sports, NCC, and medical students, as well as personnel from the armed forces and NDRF, ensured flawless coordination and heartfelt hospitality. Athletes and coaches worldwide lauded the respect, world-class facilities, and unwavering support they received.

Led by Shri Devendra Jhajharia, President of PCI, and Shri Satya Babu, Director of PCI and President of the South Asia Paralympic Committee, the organizing team worked relentlessly to deliver an event that set a global benchmark. The collective efforts of the Sports Authority of India (SAI), the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the Ministry of External Affairs, the Government of NCT Delhi, and other departments were instrumental in this historic success.
