Agra: Under the leadership of Principal and Dean Dr. Prashant Gupta, SN Medical College’s School of Nursing organized an awareness program on Cervical Cancer and Polycystic Ovary Disease (PCOD) for 200 nursing students.
Cervical Cancer and Vaccination:
Dr. Ruchika Garg, Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, provided detailed information about cervical cancer, explaining that it is primarily caused by the HPV (Human Papillomavirus). She emphasized the importance of vaccination for prevention.
Key points on vaccination:

At least two doses of the vaccine are recommended.

Early vaccination after the age of 9 is ideal.

The vaccine can be administered up to 45 years of age.

Lactating women can also receive the vaccine.

It can be administered on any day of the menstrual cycle and has no side effects.
Dr. Garg shared that she has administered over 2,000 doses so far without any significant side effects such as fever or arm pain.
PCOD and Health Tips:
Dr. Shikha Singh, Head of the Department, discussed PCOD and dietary recommendations, emphasizing that women should maintain a hemoglobin level of 12 gm/dL.
Dr. Urvashi, Professor, advised students to practice Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) regularly to maintain overall health, particularly considering their busy schedules.
The program was also attended by Shilpa Bhatti, Principal Nursing, and Payal Goel from the Women’s Hostel.
The awareness initiative aimed to educate future healthcare professionals on women’s health issues and preventive measures to promote a healthier society.
