CCRUM organizes two-day workshop on ʿIlāj biʾl-Tadbīr

Srinagar/New Delhi, The Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India organized ‘National Workshop on ʿIlāj biʾl-Tadbīr (Regimenal Therapy) in Unani Medicine: A Public Health Approach’ on October 14-15, 2022 in Srinagar.
Addressing the workshop, Prof. Asim Ali Khan, Director General, CCRUM informed that the Ministry of Ayush has considered CCRUM’s Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar to be developed as the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in ʿIlāj biʾl-Tadbīr (Regimenal Therapy). He said that ʿIlāj biʾl-Tadbīr comprising simple regimens of Unani Medicine are of immense use in handling public health problems faced by the present world today. He further said that the RRIUM, Srinagar has already been offering many such regimens for treatment of several musculo-skeletal, neurological and urological disorders, migraine, insomnia, etc. at basic level.

Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Sehgal, Director, National Institute of Technology, Srinagar said that the advancements in the field of information technology have caused drastic positive developments in every walk of life and appreciated the recent IT initiatives of the Ministry of Ayush. He further said that technology can be adopted for further advancement and development of regimen therapies of Unani Medicine.

Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganaei, Vice Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-Kashmir), J&K talked about the importance of medicinal plants used in Unani Medicine and stressed on collaborative research between SKAUST-Kashmir and RRIUM, Srinagar.

Prof. Akbar Masood, Vice Chancellor, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri, J&K highlighted the role of RRIUM, Srinagar in the upliftment of Unani Medicine and congratulated the RRIUM, Srinagar for being considered for the Centre of Excellence in ʿIlāj biʾl-Tadbīr (Regimental therapy).

Prof. Nazim Husain Al-Jafri, Registrar, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi emphasized the potential of Unani Medicine, particularly its regimenal therapies in public health. He further said that the Centre of Excellence in ʿIlāj biʾl-Tadbīr (Regimental Therapy) will promote medical tourism in Jammu and Kashmir.

The workshop had sessions for lectures and hands-on training on various regimenal techniques and therapies by the experts of ʿIlāj biʾl-Tadbīr from CCRUM and other reputed institutions of Unani Medicine. The workshop concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Seema Akbar, Assistant Director Incharge, RRIUM, Srinagar.
