Agra: The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm, dignity and patriotic spirit at Dr. MPS World School. The school campus was beautifully decorated in the colours of the Tricolour, while patriotic songs filled the entire atmosphere with a deep sense of national pride and enthusiasm.
The celebrations commenced with a disciplined and synchronised March Past by NCC cadets and students representing the four houses, followed by a colourful parade showcasing the cultural diversity of different states of India. Thereafter, Squadron Leader A.K. Singh, Chairman, Dr. MPS Group of Institutions, hoisted the National Flag. The entire campus echoed with patriotic fervour during the National Anthem.
Following the flag-hoisting ceremony, a vibrant cultural programme was organised at the Atulya Bharat Cultural Centre. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp before the idol of Lord Ganesha by Squadron Leader A.K. Singh.
In his inspiring and motivational address, Squadron Leader A.K. Singh said that 15 August is not merely a day to remember the sacrifices of the freedom fighters, but also an occasion to pledge ourselves to building a strong, prosperous and developed India. He said that freedom gives us rights as well as greater responsibilities towards the nation.
He called upon the students to make education, discipline, cleanliness, environmental protection, military service and social participation an integral part of their lives. He said that if the youth of the country fulfil their responsibilities with sincerity and dedication, nothing can stop India from becoming one of the leading nations of the world.
The cultural programme featured impressive performances by the students, including Deep Yoga, a patriotic skit and melodious patriotic songs. Their performances enthralled the guests, parents and teachers present in the auditorium and filled the entire venue with an overwhelming spirit of patriotism.
At the conclusion of the, Principal Rakhi Jain expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all the guests, dignitaries, parents, teachers and students. She said that Independence Day reminds us of our responsibilities towards the nation and inspires us with renewed energy and commitment towards national service.
The event was attended by Dr. Vikrant Shastri, Academic Director, Dr. MPS Group of Institutions; Dr. Anoop Goyal, Administrative Director; deans, heads of departments, coordinators, teachers and administrative staff. The programme was conducted by the students in a dignified, organised and impressive manner.
