New Delhi, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has once again reaffirmed its commitment to excellence in sports as its shooting players delivered an outstanding performance at the UP State Championship 2026 and the Delhi State Championship 2026, securing multiple medals across prestigious events of the two highly competitive championships.
Azeem, a student of BA (Hons) Hindi, 3rd Year (JMI Shooting Player), won a gold medal (Event: 10 Meter Air Pistol – Senior Men’s Team), a Gold medal (Event: 50 Meter Free Pistol – Senior Men’s Team), a silver medal (Event: 50 Meter Free Pistol – Senior Men’s Individual) and a bronze medal (Event: 10 Meter Air Pistol) – Senior Men (Individual) in the 49th UP State Shooting Championship-2026 held from 21st to 30th June, 2026 at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range, New Delhi,
Agha Sher Khan, a 3rd-year Diploma in Computer Engineering student, won a bronze medal (Event: 10 Meter Pistol – Junior Men Individual) in the 41st Delhi State Shooting Championship-2026 held from 13th to 19th June, 2026, at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range, New Delhi.
Congratulating the medal winners, Prof. Mazhar Asif, Vice-Chancellor, JMI, said, “The remarkable accomplishments of our shooting players are a matter of immense pride for the university. Their success is a result of their tenacity, self-control, and intense training. As they represent JMI at greater levels of competition, I wish them continued success.”

Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar, JMI, lauded the outstanding performances of the students and remarked, “These achievements reflect the hard work, dedication, and competitive spirit of our students.
