Intervention to Protect Students’ Future
Samajwadi Student Bodies Submit Memorandum to ADM (Judicial), Seek Stay on Proposed Demolition Action
Aligarh (S. Muneer)
Political and student organisations in Aligarh have raised their voice against the proposed demolition action against Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar University, stating that the issue is not merely about an educational institution but is directly linked with the future of thousands of students.
In this regard, office-bearers of Mulayam Singh Youth Brigade, Uttar Pradesh and Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha, Aligarh Metropolitan unit, submitted a memorandum addressed to the Governor of Uttar Pradesh to Additional District Magistrate (Judicial) Anil Kumar. Through the memorandum, they demanded an immediate stay on the proposed action against Jauhar University, an impartial investigation into the matter, and protection of the educational rights and future of the students studying there.
The memorandum stated that Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar University is one of the important educational institutions of the state, where thousands of students are pursuing higher education. If there is any legal or administrative dispute related to the university, it should be resolved strictly according to the Constitution and the law. Any action that may affect students’ education, teachers’ jobs, or the employment of other staff should be avoided.
Advocate Imran Pathan, State Secretary of Mulayam Singh Youth Brigade, Uttar Pradesh, said that educational institutions are not just buildings but the foundation of the nation’s future. He said that any dispute should be resolved through legal and judicial procedures rather than through haste or use of force.
He added that if there are any legal questions regarding the institution, the matter should be decided by the court and not through demolition. He appealed to the government to put a stay on the proposed action and conduct an impartial inquiry before taking any final decision.
Mohsin Mewati, Metropolitan President of Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha, said that Jauhar University is connected with the dreams and aspirations of thousands of young students. He urged the Governor to intervene immediately, ensure a fair inquiry, and safeguard the academic future of the students.
He further said that the identity of a democratic society lies in resolving disputes within the framework of law and the Constitution. Actions that create uncertainty among thousands of students not only affect the educational environment but also impact public confidence.
Those present on the occasion included Advocate Imran Pathan, Mohsin Mewati, former State Secretary Irfan Khan, Faizan Pathan, Nasir, Saif, former District President of Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha Anas Ahmed, Prabhat, Sameer, Aamir, Shaan, Aman and a large number of office-bearers and workers. The participants expressed their resolve to continue their efforts for the protection of students’ educational rights, constitutional values, and democratic principles.
