Alleged Morphed and Edited Clips Circulated on Social Media; Singer Urges Fans to Rely Only on Official Version
New Delhi: Popular singer Sonu Thukral’s latest song ‘Jugni’ has been receiving an overwhelming response from audiences and is rapidly gaining popularity across social media platforms. However, amid its success, the song has become embroiled in a controversy, prompting the singer to approach the Cyber Crime Cell.
According to information available, a scene in ‘Jugni’ reportedly contained an unintended camera angle during filming. Following the song’s release, it is alleged that certain individuals used Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology and editing tools to manipulate and morph portions of the video and circulate them on social media in an objectionable manner.
The allegedly manipulated clips were reportedly circulated out of context, leading to criticism and allegations of obscenity against singer Sonu Thukral and actress Jacqueline Fernandez. As the controversy intensified, Thukral took a precautionary step and removed the song from his official channel after it had reportedly crossed approximately 15 million views.
The disputed portion of the video was subsequently edited and the song was re-released. However, according to the singer, some individuals continue to use AI-based editing and manipulation to present the song in a misleading manner and circulate objectionable content on social media.
Complaint Filed With Cyber Crime Cell
Sonu Thukral has reportedly filed an official complaint with the Cyber Crime Cell in connection with the matter. In his complaint, he alleged that certain anti-social elements were attempting to damage the image of his song and harm his reputation by circulating manipulated content.
The singer has appealed to viewers not to believe edited or manipulated videos circulating on social media and to watch the original song only through its official and verified platforms.
Thukral expressed hope that the Cyber Crime authorities would investigate the matter and take appropriate action against those responsible for allegedly creating and circulating manipulated content.
Despite the controversy, ‘Jugni’ continues to remain popular among audiences and is reportedly gaining traction on social media following its release in the edited version.
