New Delhi, July 18: The Centre for NaMo Studies (CNMS) has announced the Viksit Bharat Shikshak Awards 2026, a national initiative to recognise exceptional educators for their contributions to teaching, research, innovation, mentorship, and educational leadership. The awards will be presented on National Teacher’s Day, September 5, 2026, in New Delhi.
According to Prof. Jasim Mohammad, Managing Trustee of the Centre for NaMo Studies, the initiative aims to celebrate teachers whose work reflects the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and contributes to the national goal of Viksit Bharat @2047. He said that teachers play a transformative role in shaping responsible citizens and driving India’s intellectual, social, and economic progress.
The awards are open to School Teachers, College Faculty, and University Academicians from government, government-aided, and private institutions across the country. Nominations may be submitted through self-nomination or by schools, colleges, universities, alumni associations, students, academic bodies, professional organisations, and NGOs working in education.
Entries will be evaluated on parameters including teaching excellence, innovative pedagogy, research contributions, student mentorship, academic leadership, digital education, inclusive practices, community engagement, and the promotion of Indian Knowledge Systems. The selection process will include technical screening followed by evaluation by a national jury comprising eminent academicians and education experts.
Prof Divya Tanwar said, the last date for submitting nominations is August 20, 2026, while the award ceremony will be held on September 5 in New Delhi.
CNMS has invited educators across India to participate in the initiative and celebrate excellence in teaching and nation-building.
