Congress protests Kangana Ranaut’s remarks on Gen Z, submits memorandum to President

Aligarh: The Congress has strongly reacted to the controversial and allegedly objectionable remarks made by BJP Member of Parliament from Mandi, Kangana Ranaut, regarding Gen Z. The party termed the remarks an insult to the dignity and self-respect of the country’s youth, students and young women, and demanded appropriate action against the MP.
In protest against the remarks, Congress leaders and workers in Aligarh reached the district headquarters under the leadership of Pratima Singh, former State President of Uttar Pradesh Mahila Congress, and submitted a memorandum addressed to the President of India through the representative of the District Magistrate.
The memorandum urged the authorities to take serious note of the statement made by a sitting Member of Parliament and initiate appropriate action.
Speaking to the media after submitting the memorandum, Pratima Singh said that the youth are the future of the country and that any irresponsible or derogatory remarks about them are not only unfortunate but can also have a negative impact on society.
She said that every word spoken by a Member of Parliament carries significance and that public representatives have a moral responsibility to use language that motivates and encourages young people rather than humiliating them.
Pratima Singh said that young women, students and members of the new generation are making significant contributions in education, research, employment, entrepreneurship and the development of the country. In such a situation, inappropriate comments about them can hurt not only the youth but also the sentiments of millions of parents.
She emphasized that statements made by public representatives do not remain confined to political circles but influence society at large. Therefore, every statement should be made with responsibility, dignity and seriousness.
Pratima Singh further said that such remarks appear to be an attempt to gain cheap publicity, but being in the headlines through negative statements does not befit a public representative. Instead of insulting or dividing the younger generation, its talent, abilities and contribution should be respected.
She demanded that all public figures use language that promotes confidence, self-respect, dignity and positive thinking among young people.
She said that the Congress would continue to raise its voice for the dignity, rights and respect of the youth. If any public representative uses inappropriate language against the future builders of the country, the party will continue its protest through democratic and constitutional means.
Several Congress leaders and workers were present during the protest and submission of the memorandum. Those who participated included Sher Pal Saita, Ram Gopal Raina, Leena Kumar, Sita Sharma, Sagar Singh Tomar, Mohammad Zameer, Laxmi Narayan, Rekha, Vijay Saraswat, Laxmi, Rama, Savitri, Kanti, Guddi and former president Anwar Aqeel, among others.
Congress leaders expressed hope that the memorandum addressed to the President would be taken seriously and appropriate action would be initiated to ensure that public representatives refrain from making irresponsible or derogatory remarks about the younger generation in the future.
