The Central Air Command (CAC) successfully organized the inaugural edition of the Sekhon Indian Air Force Marathon 2025, a pan-India running event conducted simultaneously across nine Air Force Station locations under CAC.
Air Marshal PV Shivanand AVSM, VM, Senior Air Staff Officer, CAC, flagged off the marathon at Agra and led from the front, participating in the run and setting an inspiring example of leadership and dedication. At the same time, the Air Officers Commanding at Prayagraj, Gwalior, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Lucknow (BKT), Memaura, Bihta, and Darbhanga also flagged off the marathon at their respective locations.
The marathon witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 8,500 runners, including air warriors, their families, and civil citizens across the CAC Area of Responsibility (AoR). The event featured 5 km, 10 km, and Half Marathon (21 km) categories, encouraging participants of all age groups and fitness levels. Winners in each category were awarded attractive prizes, while all participants received T-shirts, medals, and e-certificates as tokens of appreciation.
The Sekhon IAF Marathon 2025 is dedicated to the valour and sacrifice of Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, PVC (Posthumous), the sole Param Vir Chakra recipient of the Indian Air Force. His courage and devotion to duty continue to inspire generations of air warriors.
Supported wholeheartedly by the civil administration, the marathon was conducted safely and seamlessly across all nine locations. By organizing this event, CAC reaffirms its commitment to promoting fitness, discipline, and unity among the youth and the broader community.
