Jammu: Sham Lal Sharma, MLA Jammu North, today laid the foundation stone for a ₹50 lakh Overhead Water Tank at Panchayat Kot Lower Ghari (B), a key project aimed at providing clean and reliable drinking water to local residents.
This initiative addresses a long-standing demand and will offer significant relief to households struggling with water scarcity. Once completed, the tank will ensure a consistent and safe supply of potable water, marking an important step in the area’s infrastructural development.
Speaking at the event, Sham Lal Sharma highlighted that the project aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Har Ghar Nal Se Jal”, ensuring access to safe drinking water for every household. He reiterated that Jammu North remains committed to strengthening water supply infrastructure and other civic amenities, including roads, electricity, and healthcare.
Sharma also emphasized strict adherence to quality standards, use of approved materials, and proper technical supervision during construction. He called for transparency, accountability, and timely execution in all public projects. Expressing gratitude to residents for their support, he noted that collaborative efforts between officials, local representatives, and the community are essential for sustainable development in Jammu North.
The foundation stone ceremony was attended by officials from the Jal Shakti (PHE) Department, including Er. Sandeep (AEE, Jal Shakti PHE Division Kandi-Ist) and AE Ashish Sharma. Former Sarpanch Hari Sharan, District President Kisan Morcha Rakesh Singh, Mandal President Rohit Verma, and local residents were also present.
