Lucknow/Noida: The controversy over the ongoing SIR (Special Intensive Revision) campaign in Uttar Pradesh continues to escalate. In districts including Noida, strict administrative action is being taken against lapses by BLOs (Booth Level Officers) and supervisors. Amid this, justice advocate Ayaz Khan Achchu has highlighted serious discrepancies in the voter lists available on the Election Commission’s website, raising critical questions.
According to sources, in Noida, FIRs have been filed against 60 BLOs and 7 supervisors for negligence during the SIR campaign. Similar actions are being reported in other districts, indicating significant irregularities in the voter list revision process.
Meanwhile, Ayaz Khan Achchu pointed out that the 2003 voter list of Mathura district, available on the Election Commission’s official website, shows several assembly constituencies and polling booths completely missing. He described this as extremely dangerous for democracy, stating that such errors fall under the category of a “constitutional offense.”
Achchu has demanded transparency, accountability, and a complete verification of the voter lists from the Election Commission. He has also appealed to citizens to stay vigilant about safeguarding their voting rights and to raise their voices against such discrepancies.
These allegations have stirred the political atmosphere in the state. Several senior Congress leaders and workers have become actively involved and are preparing letters urging local authorities to review and correct the voter lists.
The questions raised regarding the SIR campaign and the discrepancies in voter lists have sparked a serious debate in Uttar Pradesh about the credibility, transparency, and protection of voting rights in the election process. The political and legal ramifications of this controversy are expected to unfold in the coming days.
