Agra, : A 70-year-old tourist from South Africa, Leela Pillai, visiting the Taj Mahal with a 24-member group, was reunited with her fellow travelers after getting separated near the monument on Friday.
According to reports, after visiting the Taj Mahal, Pillai accidentally exited through the western gate around 4:00 PM while the rest of her group left through the eastern gate. She wandered alone in the western parking area searching for her companions. Her group waited at the eastern gate, unaware of her location.
The incident was reported to the Quick Response Team of the Taj Security Police, led by Sub-Inspector Shivraj Singh, at the Western Parking Tourist Facilitation Center. Under the supervision of Inspector Tilak Ram Bhati, a joint team comprising Tourism Police Sub-Inspector Ajay Kumar and members of the Taj Security Police launched a search operation. CCTV footage, radio announcements, and RT-set messages were used to locate the group.
Within 30 minutes, the separated group members were found at the eastern gate and safely reunited with Pillai. The elderly tourist was reportedly very emotional upon meeting her group and expressed deep gratitude to the Agra Police for their assistance.
The police team involved in the operation included Sub-Inspectors Shivraj Singh and Nepal Singh, Constable Shailendra Kumar, Female Constable Anupam, and Tourism Police personnel including Sub-Inspector Ajay Kumar and Constable Ashok Kumar.
