(A Confluence of Craft and Cuisine)
Agra, Bikunti Devi Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Agra, hosted a vibrant “Hunar-Haat” today, aimed at empowering students through entrepreneurship and practical skills. The event was organized under the Government of India’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ and ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative, encouraging students to transform their creative and artistic ideas into business opportunities. The program was conducted by the college’s self-help group ‘Swavalamban’.

The event was inaugurated by Prof. Surekha Tomar, CDC, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Agra. Distinguished guests included Prof. Vandana Agrawal, Principal of B.D. Jain Kanya Mahavidyalaya, and Prof. Madhu from the Department of Psychology, R.B.S. College.
The students displayed their talents through handmade bags, artificial jewelry, sculptures, decorative Diwali lamps, craft items, decorative goods, and Madhubani paintings, with a total of 45 stalls. In addition, several food stalls offered items like bhel puri, coffee, momos, golgappe, and dahi bhalla. The primary objective of the Hunar-Haat was to make students economically self-reliant while promoting and showcasing their creativity.
Chief guest Prof. Surekha Tomar praised the students’ talent and blessed them for success and growth in life. Principal Prof. Poonam Singh encouraged the students and extended her best wishes to all participants.
The event also featured a competition, judged by Prof. Poonam Rani Gupta, Coordinator of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, and Lt. Prof. Anupam Saxena from the Department of Physical Education.
The Hunar-Haat was coordinated by Dr. Ekta and Dr. Jyoti Kushwaha. Other prominent attendees included Prof. Bindu Awasthi, Prof. Gunjan, Prof. Poonam Sharma, Prof. Sunita Chauhan, Dr. Kanchan Gupta, Dr. Vandana, Dr. Kamna Dhawan, Dr. Aparna Shukla, Dr. Sangeeta Tyagi, Dr. Sarita, Dr. Krishna Bala Singh, Dr. Anupam Saxena, Mrs. Sapna Devi Yadav, Dr. Preeti Shakya, Dr. Manisha, Dr. Shikha Jain, Mrs. Shalini, and Ms. Neha, among others.
The Hunar-Haat successfully provided a platform to showcase students’ creativity and entrepreneurial skills, promoting self-reliance and confidence among the participants.
