Bhopal, : Madhya Pradesh all-rounder Saransh Jain has been rewarded for his consistent domestic performances with his maiden selection in India’s Test squad for the upcoming two-match series against Sri Lanka.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday announced the 15-member squad, with Saransh emerging as one of the notable inclusions. Ahead of the series, the Indian team will play a four-day practice match in Colombo starting on August 7 before the first Test begins in Galle on August 15.
Saransh has been a consistent performer in domestic cricket for Madhya Pradesh. In 54 First-Class matches, he has scored 2,223 runs, including two centuries and 14 half-centuries and has picked up 188 wickets, establishing himself as a dependable all-round contributor.
Speaking on his selection, Saransh Jain said, ”It is an incredible honour to be selected for the Indian Test team. Representing India has always been my biggest dream, and seeing it come true is a very special moment for me and my family. I am grateful to the BCCI selectors, the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association, my coaches, teammates, and everyone who has supported me throughout my journey. His selection is another proud moment for Madhya Pradesh cricket, highlighting the state’s strong domestic structure and its ability to produce players capable of representing India at the highest level.
India will take on Sri Lanka in the first Test at Galle International Cricket Stadium from August 15-19, followed by the second Test at the SSC in Colombo from August 23-27.
