Under the Rural Transport Service Scheme of the Uttar Pradesh government, a major opportunity has been extended to private bus owners in Agra. Interested operators can apply for contracts with the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (Roadways) until March 28.
As part of the scheme, a total of 30 buses will be operated across 15 blocks in the district, with two buses allocated to each block. These buses will run from villages to block and tehsil headquarters, significantly improving rural connectivity.

Transport department and Roadways officials recently held a meeting with private bus owners, encouraging them to participate in the initiative and deploy buses on rural routes.
The scheme offers several benefits to contracted bus operators, including 100% exemption on permit fees and the right to collect fares within prescribed limits. The entire revenue generated will be retained by the vehicle owner.
According to Regional Manager B.P. Agrawal, applications are being accepted until March 28.
This initiative is expected to be beneficial not only for private bus operators but also for rural residents, as it aims to strengthen transportation facilities in remote areas.
