Lucknow: Under the leadership of Akhilesh Yadav, the Samajwadi Party has intensified its preparations for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections by taking a significant organizational step. The party is actively working to strengthen its PDA (Backward, Dalit, Minority) social coalition and expand its influence across caste groups.

As part of this strategy, Seema Rajbhar (also known as Bhuna), a resident of Ballia, has been appointed as the National President of the Mahila Sabha. She was previously associated with the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party and had been serving as the National Secretary of the Samajwadi Party’s Chhatra Sabha.
Political analysts believe that this move is aimed at countering the influence of Om Prakash Rajbhar and weakening his hold over the Rajbhar community’s vote base. It is noteworthy that SBSP, led by Om Prakash Rajbhar, had contested the 2022 Assembly elections in alliance with the Samajwadi Party, but later joined the National Democratic Alliance.
Earlier, the Samajwadi Party had also tried to attract the Nishad community by appointing Rukmini Devi Nishad, sister of late Phoolan Devi, as the state president of the Mahila Sabha—reflecting its broader caste-balancing strategy.
A war of words continues between SP and SBSP leaders. Om Prakash Rajbhar has repeatedly claimed that the Samajwadi Party’s strong performance in Purvanchal during the 2022 elections was largely due to his party’s support.
Overall, this move by the Samajwadi Party is seen as part of a broader strategy to recalibrate social equations and strengthen its electoral base ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. It remains to be seen how effective this strategy proves on the ground.
