Lucknow: Sufiyan Quraishi, National Secretary of the Samajwadi Party (SP), has issued a strong statement in support of senior leader Azam Khan. He said that a person who has always prioritized the welfare of his community over himself is now being targeted and put on trial.
Quraishi stated that Azam Khan’s only “crime” was dreaming of education and making it a reality. Mohammad Ali Jauhar University stands as the fulfillment of that dream. However, he is now facing political conspiracies and pressures for the very efforts that aimed at empowering the community.
He also highlighted the role of the late Aziz Qureshi , who served as Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Mizoram. Sufiyan Quraishi pointed out that when Aziz Quraishi was the Governor of Uttar Pradesh, he granted the approval for Mohammad Ali Jauhar University, which had been blocked by two previous governors for eight years.
The SP leader emphasized that Azam Khan has never wronged anyone nor caused harm. His only fault, according to Quraishi, is that he worked to provide education and dignity to the underprivileged. He described the ongoing struggle as a fight for justice and education, not just for a single individual.
Sufiyan Quraishi expressed confidence that truth will prevail and justice will be restored. He added that no matter how dense the political fog becomes, justice will rise, and the story will unfold as one of sacrifice and courage.
Notably, Sufiyan Quraishi is considered the political heir of the late Aziz Qureshi and is known to be a close associate of SP National President Akhilesh Yadav.
Concluding his statement, Quraishi recited a couplet reaffirming his support:
“O sky, we are not the ones to bow to falsehood,
You have tested us a hundred times.”
