Bhopal: Mohammad Umar Kasmi, State Secretary of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee, has submitted a memorandum to the District Collector and Superintendent of Police of Khargone, seeking strict legal action against Nazia Elahi over a video allegedly circulated on social media.
According to the memorandum, the video allegedly contains objectionable remarks about Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (peace be upon him) and Ummul Momineen Hazrat Aisha Siddiqa (RA). Kasmi stated that the alleged remarks have deeply hurt the religious sentiments of the Muslim community and could adversely affect communal harmony, public peace, and law and order.
He urged the administration to conduct a fair and impartial investigation and register an FIR against Nazia Elahi under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and other applicable laws. He further requested that, if the investigation establishes sufficient legal grounds, action should also be considered under the National Security Act (NSA).
The memorandum puts forward four key demands: an immediate and impartial inquiry into the alleged video and statements, registration of an FIR against the concerned individual, removal of the alleged objectionable content from social media platforms, and strict legal action in accordance with the law if the allegations are substantiated.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohammad Umar Kasmi said that India is a country of diverse religions and cultures where every faith deserves equal respect. He added that alleged derogatory remarks against any religion, its revered personalities, or religious beliefs can disturb social harmony and appealed to the authorities to take prompt, impartial, and lawful action after due investigation.
