Agra — A grand program was organized at the Samajwadi Party district office on Agra-Fatehabad Road to mark the 87th birth anniversary of the revered leader, former Defence Minister, former Chief Minister, eight-time MLA, one-time MLC, and seven-time Lok Sabha MP, Late Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav.
The event was presided over by outgoing District President Shri Krishna Verma and outgoing City President Chaudhary Wajid Nisar. The celebration was marked with great enthusiasm and included a seminar commemorating the life and legacy of the leader. Senior party leaders and workers offered floral tributes at the statue of Mulayam Singh Yadav, with District President Shri Krishna Verma performing the ceremonial garlanding.
During the seminar, the life and struggles of the leader were discussed in detail. District President Shri Krishna Verma said,
“Netaji was like a deity for farmers, the poor, laborers, and the underprivileged. Some of the historic decisions taken during his tenure as Chief Minister will always be remembered — such as abolishing mandi taxes on farmers, reducing prescription fees at government hospitals to just one rupee, and, as Defence Minister, honoring and supporting the families of martyrs. History will always remember these contributions of Netaji.”
City President Chaudhary Wajid Nisar added,
“Mulayam Singh Yadav was born on November 22, 1939, into a humble farmer’s family. He began his career as a teacher but later devoted himself entirely to politics. He emerged as a prominent socialist and farmers’ leader in Uttar Pradesh, establishing his influence across the state in a short span. He worked tirelessly for the upliftment of backward communities and founded the Samajwadi Party in 1992. He also served as India’s Defence Minister. Posthumously, Netaji was awarded the Padma Vibhushan by President Smt. Droupadi Murmu on the eve of Republic Day, January 26, 2023.”
Prominent attendees at the event included Surendra Chaudhary, Rajpal Yadav, Ramgopal Baghel, Pappu Yadav, Pawan Prajapati, Santosh Pal, Qadir Quraishi, Somesh Gupta, Amit Kushwaha, Harimohan Rajput Lodhi, Udal Singh Kushwaha, Pankaj Kasana, Priyanka Chauhan, Sulekha Srivastava, Rajesh Verma, Jitendra Valmik, Rakesh Gola, MLA Sharma, Sharif Malik, and others.
The event reflected the enduring legacy and affection for Netaji among the people and party workers.
