Aligarh S. Muneer
On the occasion of the anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition, the AMU administration and students came face to face after being prevented from reading the Supreme Court verdict regarding the Babri Masjid. The students said that we were not doing anything illegal, we wanted to read the Supreme Court verdict. This is a historic verdict that all parties had accepted and the dispute was over. After all, what is the intention of the AMU administration behind preventing the verdict from being read is beyond comprehension.
After the poster of the students of Aligarh Muslim University reading the Babri Masjid verdict outside the Arts Faculty went viral, the police and the proctor team officials were present at the spot since morning and did not allow any kind of activity. Meanwhile, the students allege that in a democracy, it is not appropriate to stop us from this process. The decision that has been made is the history of the country and preventing us from reading it is beyond understanding.
According to sources, Deputy Proctor Hassan Imam was present on the spot with his team and clarified that a poster went viral, but it is not known who did it and how. We gathered to investigate the matter. The poster said that we will read the Babri Masjid verdict. He said that the university is sensitive, whenever any problem arises, we are alert. This poster may have been issued by some outsiders, however, we are present at the scene, for which it was posted. The police administration is also with us, the assistant proctor, deputy proctor, everyone is present but there is no such problem.
Meanwhile, AMU student Moaz said that there were enough students present to read out the Supreme Court verdict regarding the Babri Masjid, but the university & police administration did not allow us to do so. The students said that if we are not allowed to discuss issues in the university, then where else will we be allowed to do so. The students said that today marks 33 years since the demolition of the Babri Masjid. December 6, 1992 is a black mark in history that history can never forget. On that day, violating the court orders, the historic mosque was demolished by extremists in broad daylight in the presence of the police administration, and the then Congress government watched the spectacle of the law being flouted, due to which December 6 is observed as Black Day
Meanwhile, the police ad ministration remained on alert on the 33rd anniversary of the Babri Masjid. Realizing the sensitivity of December 6, the administration made security arrangements in sensitive areas of the city.
