Manish Bansal has appealed to the people to remain cautious in view of the ongoing heat wave and extreme temperatures. He urged citizens to take special care of their health and avoid stepping out unnecessarily during peak afternoon hours.
The District Magistrate said that the Meteorological Department has issued warnings regarding heat wave conditions and adverse weather. He advised people to stay hydrated by drinking sufficient water, lemon water, ORS, glucose, and other liquid supplements. He also urged residents to cover their heads with a cloth or cap while going out in the sun to protect themselves from heatstroke.
He informed that the Relief Commissioner, Uttar Pradesh, has released Rs 33 lakh for heat wave relief measures, under which arrangements for shade, cool drinking water, and other relief works are being carried out across urban local bodies.
The District Magistrate directed all concerned departments to ensure preparedness for tackling heat wave-related emergencies. Instructions have been issued to establish special wards in all hospitals and ensure the availability of doctors to handle any emergency situation arising due to extreme heat.
He also directed authorities to make proper arrangements for cool drinking water, shade, and green fodder at all stray cattle shelters.
To provide relief from the scorching heat, Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils, Nagar Panchayats, and Gram Panchayats have been instructed to establish temporary shelters, ensure drinking water facilities, and arrange green nets, sheds, and shaded areas at major public places such as bus stands, labour hubs, taxi and auto stands, and busy intersections.
The District Magistrate further said that places where a large number of labourers and passengers gather should be identified and provided with adequate heat protection facilities. Considering that Agra is a major tourist destination, special arrangements have also been directed at all tourist spots to protect visitors from the severe heat.
