Speakers Address a Discussion on Iran’s Defence Strategy and Regional Implications
Hyderabad: — Referring to the so-called “Operation Al-Aqsa Flood” of 7 October 2023, speakers said that Israel, despite its claims of defensive and military expertise, was exposed and caught off guard by a highly successful strike that shocked the world driven by power and wealth. They further stated that in response to the “oppressive Israeli and American attack on Iran on 28 February 2026,” Iran launched intense retaliatory strikes on American military bases and various Israeli cities, shaking the hearts and minds of those responsible for oppression, killings, and destruction, and breaking the standards of arrogance and power.
(Against this backdrop, it was mentioned that from the region of Gaza and Iran, Allah Almighty may raise such fighters in the future who will take responsibility for leading the Muslim Ummah and transform its history, restoring its glorious past.)
These views were expressed by veteran poet, writer, and former General Secretary of the Islamic Literary Circle Qatar, Mr. Mohsin Habeeb, during a joint online meeting of “Maktab Sidrat al-Muntaha” and “Maktab Taj al-Qur’an.”
On this occasion, from the United States, Maulana Dr. Syed Shah Samiullah Hussaini Bandanawazi Chishti Quadri Sajjadah Nasheen and Mutawalli of the shrine of Hazrat Syed Shah Malik Hussaini, and Shah Raj Peto, Legal Advisor of All India Jamiat al-Mashaikh, presented their analysis of the Iran–US situation, stating that the Iran–US conflict is a political reality. However, the real test for Muslims is whether they become divided in such matters or demonstrate unity by upholding justice and wisdom. They emphasized that instead of taking sides, Muslims must stand for principles, speak of justice, support humanity, and promote peace and goodness under all circumstances.
Mr. M.A. Najeeb, Ambassador for Peace, stated that the tensions between the United States and Iran pose a serious challenge to global peace, and therefore both countries should attempt to reduce conflict through dialogue and diplomatic means. He added that responsible countries, including India, can play a constructive role, especially those maintaining balance, neutrality, and diplomatic relations. India’s foreign policy gives importance to peace, dialogue, and mutual respect, enabling it to contribute positively toward de-escalation. However, it is more appropriate to say that global peace requires collective efforts from the international community, regional powers, and global institutions rather than any single country.
Presiding over the session, Senior Advocate of the High Court, Mr. Mohammad Waheed Ali Khan, stated that in the present era, the need of the time is for Muslims to move forward with unity, awareness, and responsibility. He emphasized that contemporary challenges should be addressed not through emotions but through wisdom, patience, and positive strategy. In this context, education is the strongest and most sustainable tool, which not only empowers individuals but also shapes the direction of an entire nation.
Chief Guest Mr. Azhar Umri, Senior Journalist and District President of the Uttar Pradesh Working Journalists Union, Agra, said that Iran currently appears committed to its position with determination and courage. However, it is also a fact that continued escalation of tensions can lead to large-scale conflicts. There are global concerns that if the situation is not controlled in time, it may become even more complicated. He stressed that all parties must show patience, wisdom, and seriousness, and prioritize diplomatic channels and negotiations over emotional reactions, as this is the only path toward sustainable peace. He added that this message should also reach relevant institutions, including Iranian consulates.
Assistant Professor Dr. Najma Sultana stated in her address that unity is not merely a slogan but involves practical cooperation, mutual tolerance, and positive contribution. If education, discipline, and mutual respect are adopted, not only current challenges can be faced, but a better and dignified future can also be built. She recently completed her education from the renowned Qom University in Iran and has returned to Hyderabad.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Maulana Basit Ali stated that Iran, as a modern state, was established as an Islamic Republic after the 1979 Iranian Revolution, after which it focused on strengthening its sovereignty, regional influence, and defense capabilities. Iran’s military strength is generally viewed in terms of its strategic defense planning, regional influence, and unconventional military tactics. Its armed forces include both the regular military and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which plays a key role in defense and regional policy. Iran has also made significant advancements in missile technology, drones, and defense systems.
Senior journalist Abdul Hamid Manan noted that Iranian youth have demonstrated remarkable resilience and courage. Despite hardships and sacrifices of their elders, their unity reflects strong determination. However, he stressed the importance of wisdom and insight along with emotions to properly understand the consequences of any reaction. Strong nations are those that move forward with unity, awareness, and wisdom.
Mr. Syed Shadab Ahmed Rizvi, Founder and Principal of Maktab Sidrat al-Muntaha, stated that at the beginning of the conflict, it was believed that Iran’s key locations and leadership could be targeted to force regime change. However, Iran responded by launching missile and drone attacks on US allies in the Gulf region. As the conflict intensified, Iran focused on disrupting maritime traffic through the narrow waterway linking the Gulf of Persia to global markets. This created significant pressure on the United States and its allies, who depend on uninterrupted oil and gas supply through the Strait of Hormuz. During the 40-day conflict, more attention was given not to Iran’s nuclear weapons or capability, but to its ability to disrupt shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
Dr. Syed Habeeb Imam Quadri (Editor, Tareekh-e-Deccan Journal) stated that the Qur’an promotes peace, tolerance, and dialogue, and teaches that justice must not be abandoned even in enmity. These principles can also guide international relations. If countries prioritize mutual respect, tolerance, and serious dialogue, tensions can be reduced. Similarly, the lives of the companions of the Prophet in Islamic history teach us to adopt unity, patience, and wisdom in difficult times. In today’s world as well, these principles are essential for promoting peace, solidarity, and cooperation.
On this occasion, Advocate Mohammad Ikramuddin Murtaza Pasha, Syed Sheruddin Quadri known as Muqeem Pasha (Convener of the meeting), Arshad Hussain (Social activist), Asma Khatoon, Nazma Sultana, Sajida Begum, Mohammad Shabbir Ahmed, and other distinguished personalities were present. Syed Shadab Ahmed Rizvi thanked all participants, and the meeting concluded successfully with the heartfelt prayers of Maulana Syed Shah Samiullah Hussaini Sajjadah Nasheen.
